Process – Equipment – Optimization

The concept of Process – Equipment – Optimization (PEO) was introduced for pumps, by Lars Kahlman, at the Turbomachinery and Pump Symposia in 2017 followed by a verification based on real pump data at the 2nd World Condition Monitoring Congress in 2019. PEO was used to visualize the possibilities with load sensing within process equipment, for example pumps, and to use this to tune process and key equipment to work together at the best efficiency point and the best reliability point simultaneously. Thus, PEO gives the possibility to combine lower energy consumption with high production rate and quality with high reliability. A potential win-win-win scenario for the process industry if process, equipment and control act together. The thinking has the potential to be applied on many types of process equipment.
